Duties, Tasks and Description:
- Review of capital asset and consumable expense (products and services) invoices to determine appropriate taxability. Ensure the proper tax amount is charged or set-up the appropriate accrual. Develop taxability matrixes for internal use.
- Efficiently, timely and accurately prepare sales and use tax returns, including processing of payments and filing. Timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations to ensure that balances are consistent with returns filed/payments made and any special issues. Make journal entries on a timely basis.
- Perform assigned research using CCH or other on-line tax software, internet and other research tools. Prepare memorandum, matrixes and other correspondence summarizing research and reaching applicable conclusions.
- Bachelors degree. Preference for Accounting or Finance degree.
- Five or more years of relevant experience with a public accounting firm or a corporation with significant sales and use tax compliance obligations.
- Knowledge of general accounting principals, basic sales/use tax compliance, familiarity with audit support, basic understanding of fundamental federal, state and local income tax concepts.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, CCH or RIA tax research software, Oracle or other general ledger software system, and sales and use tax compliance software (Vertex, Sabrix or similar).
